Analysis of data (example of Hungary)

Exposure assessment:

1. Measurement of the indoor air quality in the school
2. Questionnaire on the school building and its maintenance
3. Questionnaire on the classroom environment

 Assessment of the children’s health status:

1. Questionnaire on the respiratory and allergic symptoms of school-children and the home environment
2. Lung function measurements
3. Nasal smear test

Around 10 schools will be selected per country, involving around 100 children per school and 1,000 per country.

School selection is to be decided on the basis of:

• Symptom prevalence (high vs. low)/preferred
• Building/construction type (new vs. old, light vs. traditional etc.)
• Polluted vs. clean environment (testing effects of the outdoor environment)
